Here in Tri Delta, we believe our philanthropy activities illustrate the true meaning of helping others. St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is Tri Delta's national Philanthropy. It is the largest childhood cancer research center where families never pay for treatment not covered by insurance, and families without insurance are never asked to pay.
The hospital's daily operating costs are approximately $1 Million, which is primarily covered by public contributions, such as Tri Delta. In 2005 Delta Delta Delta announced that our members had raised 1.3 million dollars for St. Jude in just three years. Our new goal is to raise 10 million in 10 years, and we
are proud to say that 2 million dollars has already been raised.
Here at UWG, Beta Iota hosts many philanthropic events throughout the year such as: car washes, toll roads, lasagna dinners, cookouts, phone-a-thons, softball tournaments, “Sincerely Yours” Mother- daughter Tea, UWG fraternity calendar, and so much more to help such a worthy cause!!
In addition to raising money for St Jude, Tri Delta’s also participate in Carrollton’s annual Relay-4-life. This fun-filled overnight event is designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research for the American Cancer Society. Although philanthropy events are a great way for us to spend time together, our greatest reward comes from helping those in need!
